Dodgers are still the best in baseball with a record of 26 - 13. Tonight, Randy Wolf goes head to head with Tim Redding, who has just been reinstated coming off a rehab assignment. Redding comes in tonight with a record of 0-0. Due to the situation of a late return, combined with a rehab assignment, I am going to have to put my money on Randy Wolf. Wolf is 2-1, but has a good outing almost every time he visits the mound. Not to mention the Dodger battery putting up some big numbers in recent games, and regardless of who Joe Torre puts in the game, they will be effective tonight. Look for Juan Pierre to dazzle you again, and watch for the Hudson -- Furcal combo meal to jump the Dodgers ahead early in the game. This should be a great home series which the Dodgers could pick up a sweep and extend our lead over the NL West, dramatically. See you at the game! Go Blue!

What a game! The Dodgers take the series 2-1 and get a little revenge from last year's NLCS loss to the Phils. Broxton, today topping out at 102 -- that's right, 102 MPH -- tacks on a blown save to his record and picks up a win. Mr.Baseball62 was close in calling the score, but no one thought James Loney would homer in back-to-back games. R. Martin goes 3-4, having some issues on the base paths, but saves the game by doubling in Andre Ethier in the top of the 10th. Billingsley would have been the first pitcher in the NL West to have six wins if not for a double given up by Broxton in the bottom of the ninth, thus tying up the game. The Dodgers maintain the best record in baseball, however, Billingsley will have to wait a week for another chance at 6-1 when he faces off against the Mets. Good afternoon, everybody. Go Blue!

Finally, An Off Day

Dodgers get a Steve "Psycho" Lyons version of a day off today which entails going to the airport, hopping on a plane, and finally unpacking for a chance to beat on Cole Hamels and the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia. One of the questions on Dodger fans' minds is whether or not the bullpen is competent enough to carry us through these next few weeks, with the subsequent loss of runs, due to the disposition of Mr. Manny Ramirez. The Dodgers relief pitchers must step it up as they go on the road for a three game series with the Phillies, then off to Florida, and finally returning home to face the Mets. But before we bang on the Mets, we are going to have to get at least three on the road. Go Blue!

Dodgers Back on That Horse

You know, ironically, in Juan Pierre's press interview, after today's game, he said that regardless if Manny is with the Dodgers they are still going to have to perform, and perform was what they did. Juan Pierre was the guy last year Joe Torre told to sit out so Manny could get the spot which he had worked so hard to keep. This year it was well understood that he would have to live in Manny's shadow until he either got hurt, kicked out, or the game went to the 8th inning with a hearty lead. Now being called upon to do a job he has certainly risen to the occasion, also who is this Juan Castro guy? He, like Juan Pierre, came into the game, in Furcal's spot, and absolutely put a hurting on the ball today with 3 hits, 2 doubles, and 2 RBIs. The Dodgers back to their old ways, after a slight hick up, they lay the smack down on the Giants 8 - O. Fantasy Baseball Hot Picks for Sunday: J. Pierre (H, SB, OBP), J. Castro/ R. Manny Ramires - Me to Steve "Psycho"Lyons

Psycho, I feel your pain, and have felt it since waking up to the morning report saying "50" game suspension. My biggest concern is Manny's return. Watching the game tonight I felt a gloomy, and an almost prideless, ambiance amidst tonight's crowd. The other thing that's troubling to me was the lack of Manny wigs, head bands, and Dodgers clothing all together. I think this situation is a double edge sword which either side isn't favorable to anyone. I'd hate to think of Manny getting booed upon his return, however, the Bonds scandal in its self has hit too close to home. We will just have to wait and see where the next couple of weeks takes us, but I think this is just a classic tale of the best of times and the worst of them. Go Blue!

Dodger Pen Shits The Bed

Dodgers bullpen was the wost it has been all year. After Randy Wolf's amazing 6 inning, 1 ER performance, the pitchers to follow him just couldn't hold a 5 run lead. I really want to know why the Dodgers got rid of Joe Beimel for any of our new aquisitions, especially Bellisario, he stinks. Granted he didn't pitch last night, but I would rather have the 1.93 ERA of Beimel who has better stats, and stuff, than the six pitchers following R. Wolf. Cory Wade gets welcomed back to the Dodgers acquiring his second blown save and boosting his ERA to 6.23. The Dodgers blow a huge lead on their quest to conquer the NY Giants record of 26 strait home game wins, but I guess we will have to wait for next year to give it another try. One positive I can drag out of last nights game was my SPECIAL PICK: Matt Kemp with his grand slam in the first inning. The Giants are in town tonight, yeah... and will be throwing B. Zito (0-2). Please excuse my brief sabbatical due to the fact that I have been eating, drinking, and sleeping Dodger blue through their 13-0 home stand. It is no secret now that Manny Ramires has been caught taking HCG, a anti-estrogen supplement, typically used by persons coming off a steroid cycle to prevent the growth of breasts. Ramires will return in July, however, in the mean time the Dodgers still have their powerful arsenal of R. Furcal, O. Hudson, A. Ethier, and J. Loney, but the rest of the squad, including R. Martin, need to step it up if they want to have any kind of chance of keeping their enormous spread over the West. PLAYERS TO WATCH: R. Furcal (OBP,SB,H), O. Hudson (OBP, SB, H), and A. Ethier (HR, H, RBI), and my special pick M. Kemp (HR, RBI). Also, if you have a Dodger pitcher on your fantasy staff you might as well activate them considering their steak they are on at home, also consider activating J. Broxton (S). Good luck and Go Blue!

Dodgers "Walk" Off

Tonight brought the 2009 dodgers closer than ever to history with an astonishing 8 - 0 home record. It was undoubtedly a pitchers dual with Clayton Kershaw heads up against Jake Peavy in this 2 hour and 48 minute ERA booster. Mannywood and the Dodgers kept quiet all night, racking up just 3 hits in this 9 inning 1 - 0 "walk off." It was a marvelous walk-walk off bases loaded, 2 out, walk delivered to Russle Martin by the shaky D. Sanchez. Ultimately it was the patience of the blue boy's bats combined with Kershaw's second stellar pitching performance that has boosted the Dodgers NL spread to 4.5 games over the Padres, and still commanding the league all together. The boys in blue look to make it 9 strait wins tomorrow night as Randy Wolf (1 -1) throws his best at the Padres and young Chris Young. See you all tomorrow! Go Blue!

Dodgers 7 - 0 At Home

The dodgers last night came from behind twice, first from a two run deficit, and the second time from one run down to go on and defeat the Padres 8-5. Each dodger contributed in a massive way Starting with my childhood friend and team mate James MacDonald closing down the first 1.2 innings leading way to the brother of my college teammate Jared, Jeff Weaver, fresh off the farm, came in to shut the door permanently. Nearly missing a home run, J. Weaver started the dodgers first charge in the 3rd with Orlando Hudson and Mannywood Ramirez going deep back-to-back putting the dodgers up by one. San Diego soon answered back, but they couldn't stop the blue boy's bats with timely hits by loretta, loney, and kemp. The dodgers increase their spread over the NL West to 3.5 games, and look to make it eight strait wins at home with youngster Clayton Kershaw on the bump tonight. Go Blue!

Dodgers Spit On The Padres

The Dodgers are off to a tremendous start to a grueling season. Leading the NL West by 2 1/2 games, they take on The Padres for the first of a four game series on an eleven game home stand. Splitting two games to two in their first meeting, the Dodgers look to sweep as they go into a two game showdown with Arizona coming to Chavez Ravine. Tackling "The Pest" along with the rest of the Padres shouldn't be too difficult a task considering the Dodgers have crushed 22 homers, and typically bailing them out of some risky innings.
